Efficiency
With customer expectations at an all time high and unprecedented growth in demand businesses are focused on identifying strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
The same principles apply to government decision making and infrastructure investment. A nationally consistent regulatory and planning approach, through the National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy, is an important focus.
National approach to our supply chain system
- Addressing single points of failure in the supply chain, through a National Resilience Package
- Building infrastructure to a higher standard to withstand natural disasters
- Developing a National Disaster Framework for supply chains
- A nationally agreed Road User Charging, across all jurisdictions and applying to all classes of vehicles
National Freight and Supply Chain Strategy
- Bring forward the review of the NFSCS to 2023, to incorporate the lessons of the global pandemic, natural disasters and global disruptions
- Reflect the future of the freight and supply chain network, including integrating technologies
- Incorporate the renewed approach to achieving net zero and the mechanisms required for the sector to transition to clean energy, across the various modes of transport
- Improving the resilience of the network, across all modes and ensuring freight keeps moving
Technology and Data
- Maintaining a focus on innovation, emerging technology and integrating these into the supply chain system
- Enhancing supply chain resilience through adopting technologies
- Benchmarking the freight and logistics supply chain to those sectors, domestic and global, performing best practice in data and technology
