Recommendations
- The NCM should be recognised as the principle coordinating body between industry and government as it relates to any external challenges to the efficient operation of the Australian freight chain.
- Promote ongoing education in the public sector regarding the essential services provided by the logistics and supply chain industry.
- Proactively engage with peak industry bodies, like the ALC, to stay informed, foster strategic relationships, and ensure preparedness for future crises.
- Develop a pre-prepared strategy for communicating issues to the supply chain and the community.
- Future public health orders explicitly acknowledge and accept demonstrable risk-based controls or mechanisms implemented by companies within the supply chain.
- Freight and supply chain workers should be granted priority access to vaccinations and other health protections.
- Commonwealth Government consider a national permit solution for any future border closures that is agreed to by all States and Territories
