ALC supports updating the freight provisions of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (the Act), however, the current definitions do not fully reflect how modern supply chains operate. Some intermodal nodes rely on shared operational technology. A failure in one privately controlled system can disrupt several supply chains, even if that system falls outside the current Act.
ALC welcomes the Department of Home Affairs' focus on removing duplication, clarifying asset boundaries and testing whether controls work in practice.
