The Australian Logistics Council’s submission on the 2025 Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL) highlights urgent workforce shortages across freight transport, warehousing, infrastructure, and emerging technology roles. ALC calls for the inclusion of critical occupations such as heavy vehicle drivers, mechanics, rail operators, warehouse technicians, and new specialist roles in automation, robotics, AI, and EV maintenance. The submission stresses that without action, shortages will constrain productivity, weaken supply chain resilience, and slow Australia’s decarbonisation efforts. ALC recommends aligning migration and training pathways with immediate demand, addressing regional workforce gaps, and ensuring logistics is fully recognised in national workforce planning to secure the skilled workforce needed for the future.
